The aging beauty of the cemeteries of New Orleans are a wondrous thing to behold. Although named by many as the "City of the Dead", there is a timelessness to life's cycles in walking the paths of history in these sacred places some call living cemeteries. "The Blue Door" is from Lafayette Cemetery 1. This digital image created by artist Maria Huntley dances between photography and painting just as we dance between the real and imagined, the earthly and ethereal, and last but not least death and life.
About Maria Huntley
Maria Huntley is an artist who employs a wide range of expression. Maria was born in Germany and came to the United States as a child. Having lived many summers of her youth in Europe gave her an understanding of different cultural perspectives and informs the universal themes of her art. The textures, color and aesthetic of time worn places she has experienced as a world traveler is seen in the layers, structure and textures of her work.
